The Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, recently extended the lease on Bagshot Park for a further 150 years, which reportedly cost £5 million.
The Prince moved into the royal residence shortly after marrying the Countess of Wessex in 1999.
The Countess has talked about living in the property in a past interview with Sky News.
“We’re a lot more fortunate because we live so close to the Queen, so when she spends a lot of time at Windsor on the weekends, our children are more fortunate because they can go over and have tea with her on a regular basis,” she said.
Where does Prince Edward live?
Prince Edward resides in Bagshot Park in Surrey along with the Countess and their two children – Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn.
He has lived in the royal residence for more than 20 years.
The grade II listed building is surrounded by 51 acres of land and is 11 miles from Windsor Castle.
It is rumoured to have 120 rooms and is estimated to be worth £30 million, according to Hello! magazine.
The residence, originally built around 1609 for King Charles I, was demolished and rebuilt in 1879 for Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, son of Queen Victoria.
After his death, it was used as a Church House and Chaplains’ Depot. The Army Chaplains used the residence until they relocated in 1996, two years before Prince Edward moved in.
The building belongs to the reigning monarch, meaning it will be passed down from one sovereign to the next.
Prince Edward has extended the lease on Bagshot Park for another 150 years.
Can you visit Bagshot Park?
