Mahomes went to Texas Tech, where he made his first career start as a freshman against the Texas Longhorns.
Mahomes spent three years with the Red Raiders, putting up gaudy passing numbers but with a losing record as a starter. Mahomes went 13-16 as a starter, but as a senior threw for 5,052 yards and 41 touchdowns, while rushing for 12 touchdowns.
