Marcus Freeman has worked his way to the top of college football as the head coach of one of the most historic programs in the sport at Notre Dame.
In just a few seasons as head coach, he’s brought the team back to the precipice of a national championship for the first time in decades. It’s been an incredible run for him so far.
MARCUS FREEMAN > BRIAN KELLY: Freeman has accomplished what Brian Kelly couldn’t at Notre Dame.
If Ohio State wasn’t the team awaiting Freeman and Notre Dame on the other side, the Buckeyes might be looking to steal him from the Fighting Irish’s sideline.
As it turns out, in an interesting twist of fate, Freeman will be coaching against his alma mater in the College Football Playoff’s championship game.
That’s right. Marcus Freeman went to school at Ohio State. He’s a former Buckeye. He played there from 2006 to 2009.
Here he is, returning one of his two career interceptions.
Now, he’ll have to coach against the school he once loved for a national championship. Hollywood couldn’t write this script.
