Jalen Hurts will get his second chance to beat Patrick Mahomes in a Super Bowl duel on Sunday night in New Orleans, as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs meet in Super Bowl LIX.

Here’s a look back at Hurts’ football journey to Philadelphia, from his high school days to his college seasons at two of the best programs in the country.

Hurts, who was born in Houston, attended Channelview High School in Channelview, Texas. He was rated as a four-star prospect.

Where did Jalen Hurts play in college?

Hurts made an instant impact for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2016, where he assumed the starting role as a true freshman, accounting for 36 total touchdowns. The Crimson Tide would go on to lose the CFP national championship game to Clemson.

The following season, Hurts led the Crimson Tide to a national championship showdown against Georgia, but was benched in the title game in favor of Tua Tagovailoa, who led a comeback for Alabama.

Hurts split time with Tagovailoa as a junior, but the Crimson Tide once again lost to Clemson in the national championship game.

Following his junior season, Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma and had a phenomenal season, finishing his final year with 3,851 passing yard, 32 passing toucdowns, 1,298 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns. Hurts finished second in Heisman Trophy voting to Joe Burrow.

Hurts was a second-round pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, going 53rd overall. Hurts was the fifth quarterback drafted, behind Burrow (1), Tagovailoa (5), Justin Herbert (6) and Jordan Love (26).
