Where Christian Gonzalez landed in Comeback Player of the Year voting

New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez finished fifth in voting for the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year award, per AP’s Rob Maaddi on Friday.

Gonzalez had a tremendous year after missing most of the 2023 season due to a shoulder injury. He bounced back in a big way, recording 59 combined tackles, 11 pass deflections and two interceptions in 16 games played. He was named a 2024 All-Pro for his efforts.

The only players ahead of him in the voting for the Comeback Player of the Year were Joe Burrow, J.K. Dobbins, Sam Darnold and Damar Hamlin.

The Oregon product figures to be a cornerstone player in the Patriots’ secondary for years to come. His inclusion on this list further proves he is on an upward trajectory and could be in line for bigger things in the coming years.
