When your bins will be collected over Christmas and New Year in Carmarthenshire

With just days to go until Christmas, it's no surprise that our rubbish will soon start to mount up faster than normal.

Despite this year's unusual circumstances, we can still be certain that our bins will start filling up over the festive season and into the New Year.

Carmarthenshire Council has, however, confirmed its collection days over the Christmas period.

Residents across the county are being reminded to put their bins out the night before as the collections may take place earlier than usual.

If your collection is due on:

Monday, December 21 - it'll be as usual

Tuesday, December 22 - it'll be as usual

Wednesday, December 23- it'll be as usual

Thursday, December 24 - it'll be as usual

Friday, December 25 - it'll be collected on Sunday, December 27

Monday, December 28 - it'll be as usual

Tuesday, December 29 - it'll be as usual

Wednesday, December 30 - it'll be as usual

Thursday, December 31 - it'll be as usual

Friday, January 1 - it'll be collected on Saturday, January 2

There will also be changes to recycling centre opening times over the festive period, with all sites closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

They will be open between 8.30am and 12pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, with last appointments at 11.30am.

The council's executive board member for the environment, councillor Hazel Evans said: "We do tend to produce a lot more waste at this time of year, so it is important that we recycle as much as possible.

"Over the last few months with more of us spending time at home we have seen the county’s blue bag and food waste recycling figures increase by 28% which is remarkable.

"I would like to thank everyone for all their efforts to recycle during this time, and please keep it up over the Christmas period as it really does make a difference."
