When William Saliba will sign new Arsenal contract after four-year deal agreed

Arsenal are closing in on securing William Saliba's future at the Emirates Stadium after verbally agreeing a new four-year deal with the Frenchman. football.london reported earlier this month that Saliba had verbally agreed a new four-year contract - with his current deal set to expire in 2024.

Going into the previous campaign, there were fears that many of the club’s best stars were nearing the end of their deals, threatening to undermine a Gunners side on the up. However, the majority of Mikel Arteta's squad are now tied down to long-term deals that protects the future of the club and gives them stability as they chase down trophies heading into the 2023/24 campaign.

Saliba signed for Arsenal back in 2019 before spending the next three seasons out on loan as he continued his development. Following a successful stint at Marseille in the 2021/22 season, the 22-year-old returned to the Emirates Stadium and proved to be a pivotal player for Arteta during Arsenal's Premier League title challenge last term.

The Frenchman suffered a back injury in March and failed to recover in time to feature again before the end of the season as the Gunners just fell short of winning their first Premier League title since 2004. Talks for Ben White and Martin Odegaard are understood to be in the works, football.london understands and then there’s the matter of Saliba.

Saliba’s importance to the side cannot be understated, and interest from outside is well documented. Arsenal have now been able to complete their aims to renew the big three - Saliba, Saka and Martinelli.

All three players represent the future of the club and losing any would have been disastrous. Successfully renewing all three, should Saliba's new deal be confirmed, represents a massive achievement for Arsenal.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old defender's new contract is set to be confirmed by the club once the player returns from his holidays ahead of pre-season training. Romano added that Saliba's new deal will run until 2027 - with the option of a further year.
