When will Neighbours be on TV for the last time?

Australian soap Neighbours, which has been running for 37 years, is being axed after Channel 5 announced it will no longer be airing the show.

On Thursday, March, 3 the Neighbours Twitter account posted the sad news that the show would be coming to an end.

It said: “We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production."

The post went on to explain that after losing the slot on Channel 5 they were unable to find a broadcaster in the UK.

“Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show. To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team."

It was also announced that the production of the show would end in June 2022 which has led fans to believe that the final episodes of the show will be aired in September 2022.

It is standard for most soaps to air their episodes three months after production and fans of the show have been told it will end on an "incredible high".

Also on Twitter, the show's team said: "We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours.”

Neighbours began the careers of many famous Australian stars including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and also featured British stars such as Amanda Holden and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
