When will Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 be released and what will it look like?

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is just around the corner. Although that hasn’t been officially announced by Epic Games, we know that the current season is coming to an end tomorrow — March 8 — and historically the company doesn’t leave a gap between themes.

So what can we expect, and when can we expect it?

Here’s all we know about the upcoming launch and game details.

When will Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 start?

We don’t have an official start date for the new season, but we have an end date for the current one — and it’s imminent.

According to a February tweet from the official Fortnite Status account, Chapter 4 Season 1 will end on Match 8, “a few days earlier than announced”.

The game doesn’t really have gaps between seasons, so the estimated start date for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is therefore Thursday, March 9.

What’s new in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2?

While nothing has officially been announced by Epic Games, leakers with a pretty strong track record of revealing content ahead of time have painted a picture of some pretty big changes.

So while this is all far from confirmed, it is at least likely. But take it with a pinch of salt until official, either way.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 setting

The new season is going to look and feel very different to the current medieval environment, if the leaks prove to be correct. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 will apparently have a “Futuristic/Neo-Tokyo theme”. It’ll apparently be packed with “futuristic motorbikes” to help you get from A to B faster.

More exciting than this is the possibility that the long-awaited first-person mode will finally arrive next season. That would be quite a big change for a game that has always stuck firmly to its third-person roots.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 weapons and Augments

The Neo-Tokyo theme is likely to see Katanas introduced as well as other new swords. On top of that, rumours of a new pistol, shotgun, and the return of the Pump Shotgun are also doing the rounds.

We could also be looking at Legendary Augments that “reboot you when you die, increase your max shield, or give you siphon”.

Pop culture crossovers

It wouldn’t be a new Fortnite season without exclusive skins from other areas of pop culture, and this time around three have been mooted.

The first is Attack on Titan — the popular anime series. The rumour is that Eren Yeager — the show’s protagonist — will be the secret skin for the new season’s battle pass.

A collaboration with Capcom is also being tipped. With the Resident Evil 4 remake out this month, there’s talk of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield appearing in the item shop.

Finally, we might be due another Star Wars collaboration. This time it won’t just be lightsabers, apparently, but force powers, letting players push, rip, and lift things in Fortnite using their Jedi powers.

Given Jedi Survivor comes out in April, this could be something that arrives later on in the season.

How much of this will actually end up in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2? We’ll find out soon enough. With the current season coming to an end tomorrow, expect something official from Epic Games any moment. We’ll update you when we know.
