When will Chelsea's FA Cup quarter-final clash with Middlesbrough be played as draw is made

Chelsea booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Wednesday with a 3-2 win against Luton as they look to finish some unfinished business.

Thomas Tuchel's men were the favourites heading into last season's showpiece at Wembley but it was Leicester City who came away with the oldest trophy in football.

The odds were very nearly upset at Kenilworth Road again on Wednesday night, with Nathan Jones's side twice taking the lead either side of a Saul Niguez strike.

But second-half goals from Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku turned the game back in the Blues favour and was enough to book their spot in the last eight.

Ahead of Everton's clash with Boreham Wood on Thursday night, the draw for the quarter-finals was made, with Chelsea being drawn away to Championship side Middlesbrough.

A nice tie at first glance, but with Chris Wilder's men beating Manchester United and Tottenham in consecutive rounds, Tuchel will head to Riverside with plenty of caution.

But when is the tie set to be played?

While the fifth round ties occupied midweek days, the FA Cup scheduling will revert to tradition this time and be played between Friday, March 18 and Monday, March 21.

With Chelsea set to play the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with Lille on Wednesday 16, their trip north is unlikely to take place on the Friday night slot, but could be on any of the Saturday, Sunday and Monday fixtures.

Official dates are subject to TV picks, and as such are yet to be confirmed.

The full FA Cup quarter-finals draw in order is as follows:

Middlesbrough vs Chelsea

Southampton vs Manchester City

Crystal Palace vs Boreham Wood or Everton

Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield vs Liverpool
