The 20 Premier League clubs will now sit back and put their feet up for the next few weeks as we enter an unusual month of professional football. The World Cup will take place in Qatar this month, rather than the summer, amid plenty of controversy meaning domestic football across the world will be put on hold.
Arsenal currently lead the way after 14 games after Mikel Arteta's side have enjoyed their best start to a season in Premier League history. The Gunners have won 12 league games since the start of the campaign and sit five points clear of Manchester City on the back of the 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend.
Tottenham sit eight points behind their north London rivals on 29 after their dramatic home win over Leeds United. Antonio Conte's men came from behind three times before grabbing all three points in the 83rd minute through another Rodrigo Bentancur winner.

It's a different story for Chelsea and Graham Potter. The Blues look set to experience a tough campaign in what seems to be a 'transition season', with their last league win coming in the middle of October. Recent defeats to Newcastle, Arsenal and Brighton have provided food for thought for Potter over the mid-season break as they aim to ensure they secure Champions League football.
It's expected that the clubs will enjoy some sort of short break before returning to training ahead of the restart of the season on Boxing Day. But how long do supporters have to wait until their teams return to action?
42 days for Arsenal and Tottenham, 43 for Chelsea - who face Bournemouth on December 27. The Boxing Day round of fixtures will be marked in many supporter calendars this year as domestic football returns after six weeks. The World Cup final takes place on Sunday, December 18 - eight days before.
After all three failed to progress to the Carabao Cup fourth round, there will be no return on the week of Christmas. This is the case for Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle, Liverpool and Leicester City.
Here are the remaining key dates of the 2022/23 season:
World Cup start date: Sunday, November 20
First England game: Monday, November 21
World Cup final: Sunday, December 18
Carabao Cup fourth round: Week commencing Monday, December 19
Premier League return: Monday, December 26
