Tottenham look set to finally complete the signing of their number one January target Pedro Porro from Sporting CP with just days left of the winter window. Interest from north London had been prominent in the weeks leading up to the opening of the January transfer window, with talks taking place throughout, and now there is confidence on both sides a deal can be completed.
During the window, football.london understands that Spurs were prioritising signing a right wing-back and attacker. The arrival of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal solved the latter and now Spurs are hopeful Porro can be their new wing-back.
At first there was reluctance from Spurs to pay the Spaniard's full €45million (£39.5million) release clause, however now it looks as though that fee will be paid by Antonio Conte and co. with the delay now being caused by Sporting.

There is a frustration at the Spurs end over the speed of the negotiations, football.london understands. Progress is being made gradually between the two clubs and there is a growing confidence that a deal for the 23-year-old Spaniard will go through before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
However, there are some frustrations within Spurs that Sporting are dragging their heels in finalising the deal with some suggestions that it could be to ensure Porro plays in Saturday night's Taca da Liga final against Porto as they line up a replacement signing.
Spurs allowing Porro to play in the showpiece occasion would still leave three days for the final documents to be signed before deadline day on Tuesday. Fabrizio Romano has now revealed the stage of the deal and exactly when the move will be finalised.
Going off this timeline, Spurs would have two days to decide whether they want to make any late moves in the window. Last year Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur arrived on deadline day and Spurs could pounce on similar opportunities with just hours of the trading period left.
