When the Met Office say it will stop raining with no sign of change anytime soon

The Met Office predicts that we will see two more weeks of rain in Wales before the wet weather briefly settles. A yellow weather warning for rain is in place across most of Wales on January 10 and the weather forecast for the rest of the week also predicts rain.

The wet weather is set to continue for the rest of the week, with the weather agency predicting only brief "sunny spells". The weather forecast from the Met Office for Wales this week, says: "(Tuesday) Mild, wet and overcast throughout with persistent rain and drizzle. Widespread heavy rain particularly during the morning, but possible at times in the afternoon mainly on higher ground. Strong winds throughout with coastal gales. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

"Tonight: Rain becoming heavier and more persistent during the early evening but clearing around midnight with clear spells and light winds overnight. Feeling cold. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

"Wednesday: Feeling cool with blustery showers and sunny spells, showers heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder. Strong winds throughout. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

"Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Further persistent rain on Thursday, this clearing during the afternoon to sunshine and showers. Cooler on Friday and Saturday with blustery showers continuing. Strong winds throughout."

All the heavy downpours have left people wondering when we will see a dry day again after briefly enjoying some sunshine on Monday. The bad news is it looks like the rest of the month will remain just as wet, with things only starting to get a little bit better in two weeks time.

The Met Office UK long range weather forecast for the weeks between January 14 and 23, says : "On Saturday, showers or rain, locally heavy, with some bright or sunny spells at times. Drier conditions more likely in the north, whereas southern areas will perhaps see some persistent, heavy rain. Windy, especially across parts of the west/southwest.

"On Sunday, low pressure will probably be replaced by a ridge from the west, introducing a colder northerly flow. Conditions will be a mix of sunny spells with the occasional shower, wintry in the north. Rain, likely on Monday from the west/northwest. Later in the period unsettled conditions are expected to persist with showers or longer spells of rain for all areas at times.

"Any drier or more settled interludes will likely be brief. Wettest conditions will be in the west. Windy conditions are often likely. Temperatures around average, occasionally mild."

Looking towards the end of January the Met Office predicts things to get a little drier however February will see the return of the wet weather. The prediction for the weather between January 24 and February 7 says: "The end of January may see more settled conditions, particularly across the south, with spells of strong winds and rain confined to northern areas for a time. Into the start of February, confidence is markedly low.

"A return to unsettled conditions is most likely, with further spells of strong winds and rain for all areas. Temperatures generally mild, although some colder interludes likely, bringing wintry conditions at times."
