When Newcastle United star Joelinton will discover whether his World Cup dream comes true or not

Joelinton will get an enforced rest this weekend at Southampton after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 4-0 rout against Aston Villa.

And for now, his dream of pulling on a Brazil shirt at the World Cup in Qatar is still alive. Or at least for another week or so.

The £40million man has been in fine form for Newcastle this season in both midfield and attack with a goal and assist to his name. His strike against Aston Villa came in front of watching Brazil boss Tite but whether it is enough to secure a place in the 26-man squad remains to be seen.

Joelinton will discover his fate on November 7 when the squad is officially announced. For now he is focused on whether Newcastle can stay in Champions League contention.

When asked about the prospect of staying in the race for the top four, Joelinton told Chronicle Live: "It will be very difficult - a difficult challenge. We just have to think game by game and try to give our best every week."

Tite went for a meal with Bruno Guimaraes in Jesmond last week and much was made over whether Joelinton could join him on the plane to Qatar.

The Brazilian star said: "He (Tite) didn't ask me anything. Tite came to watch the game and I am happy for Bruno Guimaraes.

"He continues to play well here and he will go to the World Cup.

"I still believe (I can get there). I know it's quite difficult.

"There are 20 days to go, I just continue to work hard and do my best.

"And if the chance comes I will be ready."
