Arsenal's loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday means that Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions for the third successive season.
The title win was confirmed without a ball being kicked by City, with Arsenal's shock 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest being enough to confirm City as Premier League champions for the seventh time. City had been expecting to need a win on Sunday afternoon at home to Chelsea, but Taiwo Awoniyi's 16th minute winner did the job for them.
Pep Guardiola is going for a historic treble this season, with the FA Cup and Champions League finals to come in June. This weekend's events mean that focus can now switch towards their other targets, with a midweek fixture against Brighton and a final day trip to Brentford the other remaining Premier League matches after their clash with the Blues.
City's have become serial winners, with multiple title wins coming in the past 15 years since the club's takeover by Sheikh Mansour. This title is their seventh under his ownership, turning a mid table club into England's dominant footballing force, usurping arch rivals Manchester United in the process.
With just over two weeks to go until the FA Cup final against their city rivals on June 3, Guardiola's side are unlikely to truly be able to celebrate their achievements until after the Champions League final on June 10. However, they will be presented with the Premier League trophy before then.
Here is what we know about City's Premier League trophy presentation.
When will Man City lift the Premier League trophy?
The trophy presentation will take place on Sunday, 21 May following the conclusion of City's match against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium. This has been confirmed, with the trophy traditionally being presented at the final home game of the champions, meaning that they can celebrate their achievements in front of their own fans.
Previous title wins have seen City have to celebrate away from home, with their title in 2019 having to be lifted at Brighton's Amex Stadium due to the win coming on the final day. This looked the likely outcome again this season, with Brentford away on the final day, but Arsenal's recent poor results have mean that confirmation of the win has come earlier than expected.
Who will lift the trophy?
Manchester City's captain, Ilkay Gundogan will lift the Premier League trophy following the title win. it is the first time that the German will have such an honour, having taken over as club captain following Fernandinho's retirement at the start of the season.
Speaking after the title was confirmed, Gundogan said: “To have helped the club win a third straight Premier League title is something very special.
“The Premier League is without doubt the most demanding and competitive league in the world so that tells you everything about what an achievement this is. This squad is so talented and so special and to have been captain this season has been an enormous privilege.
“I would also like to thank Pep, all the backroom staff and everyone who works across this football club. Every single day they help provide us as players with everything we need in order to try to be successful. There is no way we could have won this title without all their support."
