When Kalvin Phillips will return to Elland Road to face Leeds United with Man City

Kalvin Phillips' emotional Leeds United exit was confirmed on Monday morning, when the Thorp Arch product sealed a £42million move to Manchester City. The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a six-year deal with the Premier League champions.

That means Phillips will now be free to link up with Pep Guardiola's side ahead of the side's upcoming pre-season camp in the United States. Joining him will be the fellow Leeds-born star Erling Haaland, meaning that City will return to Elland Road looking to continue their imperious record in West Yorkshire next season.

The Whites begin their 22/23 season with a home clash against Wolves, but will face City for the first time of the campaign on Boxing Day at Elland Road.

Phillips will most likely receive a warm reception upon his return and the same will likely be said given Haaland's off-field antics involving Stuart Dallas in recent years too.

Following the festive clash between the two teams, United will again meet the Blues at the Etihad Stadium just four games before the end of the season on Saturday 06 May.

With much being made of Phillips move to the north west, it is worth noting just how much of a hole will be left in Jesse Marsch's midfield, given the numbers to back up the 26-year-old's influence in recent seasons.

When ruled out from December through to March this season, Leeds played 15 games before his return to the starting XI, losing 10 and ultimately costing former boss Marcelo Bielsa his job along the way.

Set to crucial compete with Rodri for a defining spot at the heart of Guardiola's plans, it has all the potential makings to be an interesting switch for both player and club.
