When Joe Lycett’s tour is coming to Newcastle after comedian was reported to police over joke

Comedian Joe Lycett hit headlines on Tuesday as he revealed that an audience member called the police after being offended by one of the jokes on his tour. While the 33-year-old didn’t reveal what the joke in question was, he called it “one of the best I’ve ever written” and said that it “remains firmly and proudly in the show”.

And any North East fans who want to hear the gag for themselves will be pleased to know that Joe is set to stop off in Newcastle on the tour. The More, More, More: How Do You Lycett tour will visit the Utilita Arena on Wednesday 21 September, as the only North East date on the tour.

While many other UK dates on the tour throughout July and August are sold out, there are still tickets available for the Newcastle show.

Although tickets in Block A - the closest available to the stage - are sold out and remaining floor tickets are limited, there appears to be plenty left in the upper seating areas of the Utilita Arena via Ticketmaster . Ticket prices for the Newcastle gig range from £31 to £55.

Joe made an appeal to fans in the region in July last year, after revealing that the September date had sold just 150 tickets at the time - a fraction of the venue’s 10,000-strong capacity. The comedian appeared on Lorraine to say that Newcastle fans had been “rather shy” in snapping up tickets, adding: “If anyone wants to come to the show, maybe a trip to Newcastle would be nice.”

Earlier this year, Joe told followers on Twitter that he had devised "the longest and most complicated stunt I've ever done", promising to spill all the secret details on his tour. He teased that the mystery stunt involved "aliases, opening fake companies, drag queens, scary phone calls from the police, Strictly Come Dancing, angry MPs, news headlines and a giant unicorn".
