When Jeff Schlupp initially found out about Celtic interest

Jeffrey Schlupp first heard that Celtic wanted to bring him north of the border at 2pm on transfer deadline day.

The versatile utility man joined the Parkhead side on Monday evening, with his capture being announced across club channels at 11pm.

Celtic were initially linked with Schlupp back in the summer, although a move never came to fruition.

With Alex Valle's somewhat unexpected departure last month, however, cover at left-back was needed, and the Scottish Premiership champions sought the services of the 32-year-old.

Schlupp recently revealed how the move came to fruition, explaining how it was somewhat of a late surprise: "I found out about two o'clock on deadline day," he said.

"It came about that there was a chance to come here on loan until the end of the season, and I was up for it. I spoke to the gaffer again about an hour after that and they said the deal was on if I fancied it.

"It was an easy decision for me and I headed straight to London to do the medical and the next morning I headed straight up to Glasgow. It was a busy couple of days."

Schlupp debuted for his new club in a 6-0 trouncing of Dundee on Wednesday evening.

Celtic moved 13 points clear of city rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership with the emphatic victory.

Now, though, while next Wednesday's clash with Bayern Munich lurks in the distance, full focus is on the Scottish Cup and today's clash with Raith Rovers.
