World Book Day is right around the corner as parents and teachers gear up to prepare kids for the celebration.
The annual celebration is marked all around the world in the hopes of promoting children to read while raising money for charity. A common way of celebrating the day is for kids to dress up as their favourite book character.
Common costumes won by kids include Peter Rabbit, Sherlock Holmes, Alice (from Alice in Wonderland), Harry Potter, and many more. Most, if not all, schools across Britain will similarly celebrate the day with their pupils, often by having a variety of books on offer while helping them explore the joy of reading.

This year, World Book Day will be celebrated on Thursday, March 2 - a day earlier than last year's event.
Why is World Book Day so important?
Research has highlighted that reading for pleasure could be one of the biggest indicators of a child's future success and outweighs even a child's other personal circumstances such as parental income. Because of thise, World Book Day seeks to promote the accessibility of reading for all kids.
One of the ways this is done is through special £1 vouchers which can be used to purchase a book for the low price of £1 from any participating bookseller. This year, there are 12 titles to choose from with a variety of genres and reading levels availble, these include:

- Boot It!
- Being an Ally: Real Talk About Showing Up, Screwing Up, and Trying Again
