When is Wimbledon 2023? How to get tickets to the tennis tournament

One of the most prestigous tournaments in the world of tennis is fast approaching: Wimbledon.

The London-based tennis championships will be taking place this summer, at the historic All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

While die-hard tennis fans have likely already entered the ballot, those who missed out on a spot will still be trying to get their hands on tickets.

Find out below when the tournament is taking place and how you can be part of the action.

When is Wimbledon 2023?

Wimbledon will take place from July 3, 2023, to July 16, 2023.

The ladies’ singles final and the gentlemen’s double final will take place on July 15 and the gentlemen’s singles final and the ladies’ double final will take place on July 16.

Matches on outside courts will begin at 11am.

How does the Wimbledon Public Ballot work?

The Wimbledon Public Ballot returned for year’s tournament, giving the public an extra chance to get a ticket ahead of the queue.

There was no public ballot last year because tennis fans who were successful in the 2020 Wimbledon Public Ballot were offered the same day and court for 2022.

The ballot was first launched in 1924, and “is intended to be the fairest means of obtaining tickets for The Championships,” according to the Wimbledon website.

Entering the ballot means that you've entered into a draw for the chance to be offered tickets to Wimbledon.

Unfortunately, the ballot is always oversubscribed, so entering it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be offered tickets.

The ballot was only open for a limited time and must be entered by December 30, 2022.

Since February, successful entrants have been offered two tickets, which must be paid for immediately to secure them.

How to get tickets for Wimbledon 2023

If you were unsuccessful in the Wimbledon ballot, you may be able to purchase a ticket through ballot returns.

Alternatively, you could buy tickets via Keith Prowse, which is the exclusive official hospitality partner of The Championships. The hospitality packages are from £775 per person plus VAT.

Finally, tennis fans can get tickets for the Championships by joining the famous Wimbledon queue. To be in with a chance of getting a ticket, you’ll have to head there early on the day you’d like tickets for.

The queue typically starts the evening before the first match. Up to 500 tickets for the show courts will be sold every day.
