Fink the fox (voiced by Pedro Pascal) and Roz the robot (Lupita Nyong'o) in "The Wild Robot".

DreamWorks' wonderful animated sci-fi movie "The Wild Robot" is shaping up to be another hit. The movie hit theaters on Friday, September 27, 2024, and has been very warmly received by critics and viewers alike. At the time of writing, it's raked in nearly $325 million in box office sales worldwide and holds a 97% critics rating and a hefty 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

"The Wild Robot" was already drawing attention for its impressive visual stylings and its star-studded voice cast, and now that audiences have confirmed it's a great watch, it's no surprise that many would-be viewers are already trying to find out when "The Wild Robot" is coming to streaming. And now it's official: "The Wild Robot" will begin streaming on Peacock on Friday, January 24.

The movie follows a shipwrecked robot, "Roz" (voiced by Lupita Nyong'o), who learns to adapt to their new surroundings while building relationships with the animals on the island and caring for an orphaned gosling.

When is 'The Wild Robot' coming to streaming?

"The Wild Robot" will begin streaming on Peacock on Friday, January 24. The news came as Universal, Dreamworks' parent company, announced the film will be returning to theaters on January 17. As with Universal's previous animated movies, it'll be available to watch on Peacock for four months before heading to Netflix.

That means it'll be 119 days between "The Wild Robot's" theatrical release on September 27 and its streaming debut. That's a slightly faster streaming release schedule than "Migration" and "Trolls: Band Together," which both debuted 120 days after their theatrical releases. Meanwhile, "Kung Fu Panda 4" only took 106 days to come to Peacock.

Until then, "The Wild Robot" is now available to buy or rent on Premium Video-On-Demand (PVOD) services like Prime Video.
