Fortnite is getting a meaty update this week as Epic Games continues to pump new content into Chapter 5 Season 2.
Currently, players are running around as Greek gods and heroes from Avatar: The Last Airbender as part of the season’s mythological theme.
What’s next? Well, Epic has just revealed an adorable addition to Lego Fortnite and Fortnite Festival could also be poised to kick off its third season.
With more than a month left until Chapter 5 Season 3, the Myths and Mortals season has plenty to come. Here’s what we expect the update (version 29.30) will bring to the popular online game.
When is Fortnite Version 29.30 coming out?
After weeks of speculation, Epic has confirmed that the next Fortnite update will land today (Tuesday, April 23).
We had already guessed as much based on the release schedule of past updates, which have fittingly arrived every fortnight on Tuesdays.
Expect the game to be offline for a few hours in the morning as Epic adds the new goodies.
Fortnite Version 29.30 features
There’s loads of exciting leaked features to dig into, but let’s start with the official info.
Lego Fortnite farm animals
Epic has announced that you’ll be able to wrangle animals to keep on your farm as part of the new update. You can charm cows, pigs, sheep and chickens you spot in the wild by giving them an “animal treat” (a new type of food you’ll need to unlock first) and guiding them back to your village.
Just make sure to avoid any enemies along the way, or they may do a runner.
Once back at your homestead, you can make room for your livestock by building an Animal House. Here, you’ll be able to feed them and farm resources, such as milk and wool, for new food and crafting recipes.
As part of the update, the number of residents your village can accommodate has been upped to 10, including humans and animals. Three slots are available to villagers, three slots are available to animals, and four slots are available to villagers or animals.
Here’s what else is new in Lego Fortnite in update 29.30:
- Five new villagers (Cadence, Ash, Brooks, Lana Llane, and Guernsey)
- Bears
- New chicken and cow variants
- The farm-themed Anarchy Acres Bundle is in the shop for 800 V-Bucks
- Revamped Village Square UI lets you monitor villagers, happiness of animals, upgrade requirements
- Six bug fixes and improvements
- 104 Lego styles for outfits.
Fortnite Festival
Social media sleuths suggest players will be treated to a new season of Fortnite Festival, the music-based game mode from the maker of Guitar Hero, which should revolve around a new artist.
A massive new leak claims the performer will be none other than Billie Eilish, who just so happens to have a new album out on May 17.
Epic is keeping quiet but, whoever it turns out be, players can expect a setlist of new tracks, which can typically be purchased from the shop or unlocked via the premium season pass.
Battle Royale and Rocket Racing
Reliable leakers also suggest we may see a collab with acclaimed animated show X-Men ‘97.
The rumours come after cars based on characters from the series were introduced on Epic’s other hit game Rocket League over the weekend. That would make them a great fit for Rocket Racing on Fortnite as the two games share the same developer, Psyonix.
Leakers are also expecting items, weapons and Lego outfits from Star Wars to arrive in the Fortnite Shop ahead of the game’s crossover event on May 3.
Elsewhere, the original Tactical Assault Rifle could make a comeback after being removed in a past update. The fan-favourite weapon is known for being accurate and reliable in close-quarters combat, making it a solid find on Battle Royale.
