When is the next Fortnite update? Fortnite OG season three release date revealed

Epic Games is about to kick off another season of Fortnite OG, the nostalgia mode for players who want to battle their way through one of the game’s most popular eras.

Hot on the heels of its last update, which was heavy on new Lego features, Epic Games has now confirmed when Fortnite OG season three will commence.

Here’s everything we know about the update, including its release date and rumoured features.

Fortnite OG season three release date

Fortnite OG season three will launch as part of the online game’s next update on Tuesday March 25.

We had an inkling that would be the big day as it is when the current OG pass is set to expire.

Of course, that also means you only have four days left to grab all the current rewards before they vanish.

Fortnite OG season three leaks and rumours

Epic Games confirmed the release date in an animated teaser featuring the tagline “Brace for impact”.

Sticking to the throwback style of Fortnite OG, the update will revisit chapter one, season three, which originally ran from February to April 2018.

The teaser shows a close-up of an astronaut’s helmet, reflecting the Fortnite Island below — just as a blue meteor hurtles toward it.

Theme

Long-time fans will instantly recognise the reference to season three’s space theme, which set the stage for one of Fortnite’s first major in-game events.

As the season unfolded, shooting stars streaked across the sky, later turning into small meteorites that struck the island’s surface. A larger meteor soon became visible, steadily making its way toward the map.

In the climactic finale, it came crashing down on Dusty Depot, transforming the location into a massive crater known as Dusty Divot.

Inside the newly formed impact zone, players discovered a mysterious pod containing a character known as the Visitor – a pivotal figure who would go on to shape Fortnite’s convoluted storyline.

Battle Pass

In another first for the game, season three’s battle pass introduced new cosmetics including contrails, back blings and loading screens.

If it sticks to the same blueprint as past updates, expect OG season three to bring remixed versions of classic skins including:

Double XP

To entice players to the mode, Epic recently buffed the amount of XP that can be earned from playing Fortnite OG, doubling it from 600 XP to 1,200 XP per minute.

More broadly, leaks suggest Epic will finally add Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion to the game with his own mythic. His pal Sub-Zero debuted with chapter six, season two in late February.
