Epic Games is locking Godzilla back in his cage and unleashing a brand new season of Fortnite OG as part of Fortnite’s next big update.
The blockbuster multiplayer game, which is awash with new modes, is finding space for a raft of new content.
Here’s when you can get your hands on all the new loot and jump into Fortnite OG Season 2.
When is the next Fortnite update?
Epic is preparing to launch Fortnite’s next big update on Friday, January 31. Although the exact timings aren’t confirmed, players can expect downtime for the game to begin at 9am in the UK and last for around two to three hours.
If everything goes smoothly, the game’s servers should come back online at noon when players will get to grab the new goodies.
According to leaks, the update (known as v33.30) has been added to Epic’s staging servers for testing before its big launch.

To get players pumped, Epic has revealed the new season’s overhauled map, complete with iconic locations from yesteryear. There’s Tilted Towers (which, as long-serving fans know, is also featured on Fortnite Reload and was first introduced in Chapter 1, Season 2), Shifty Shafts, Junk Junction, Snobby Shores and Haunted Hills.
Expect all the old-school spots to get a new lick of paint while remaining instantly recognisable. For many players, these locations were their go-to points during the early days of Fortnite, whether dropping in or during the end game.

As Epic previously revealed, each new season of Fortnite OG will be based on past seasons from Chapter 1, with the action taking place on the original Fortnite Island.
What’s in the Fortnite OG Season 2 Battle Pass
More broadly, it looks like season two will come fully loaded with a new Battle Pass. Remember, the original Chapter 1, Season 2 marked the debut of the Battle Pass, the progression system that has since been adopted by numerous live service games.

Of course, that means a bunch of new skins will be available to grab - and eagle-eyed fans have already leaked a few based on the teasers shared by Epic. They include remixed versions of the Black Knight, Cuddle Team Leader, and Sparkle Specialist (all with custom gliders).
Players will be able to progress through the OG Pass by earning XP in any Fortnite game mode (in keeping with the recent changes made to Fortnite proper).

Beyond Fortnite OG, Epic will be vaulting Godzilla to mark the end of the Titan Takedown event.
While you won’t be able to transform into the mighty Kaiju for the time being, there is a chance he’s added to Fortnite Creative mode in the future, setting him up to return in other modes down the line.
