With many parts of the country being treated to scorching summer weather in the coming days, you'd be forgiven for wondering when the next bank holiday is.
Many of us will have become accustomed to having three-day weekends last month, with a total of three bank holidays having taken place in May. As well as the usual Early May and Spring bank holidays to bookend the month, there was also an extra day to mark the coronation of King Charles on Monday, May 8.
England and Wales has had six of its nine bank holidays so far this year - with the substitute New Year's Day on January 2, Good Friday on April 7, and Easter Monday on April 10 completing the list. Sadly, there are no bank holidays to look forward to this month or next - but there will be one more extra day off to enjoy before summer comes to an end.

The next bank holiday is on Monday, August 28 - that's in 11 weeks' time, not that anyone is counting - which will be the last one until the end of the year, when bank holidays for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, which are due to fall on a Monday and Tuesday, finish off 2023. - Monday, August 28 - Summer bank holiday
- Monday, December 25 - Christmas Day
- Tuesday, December 26 - Boxing Day
There will be the usual eight bank holidays next year, starting off with New Year's Day which falls on a Monday and finishing off with Christmas Day and Boxing Day once again - which will be on a Wednesday and Thursday next year, on account of 2024 being a leap year. - Monday, April 1 - Easter Monday
- Monday, May 6 - Early May bank holiday
