The next big gaming showcase is arriving on Wednesday, June 1 courtesy of Meta, with the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase.
PlayStation kicked off the summer with it's PlayStation Showcase last week, focusing on upcoming PS5 and PSVR 2 games that are releasing in 2023 and beyond. It's Xbox and Bethesda 's turn next week with the Xbox and Starfield showcase. But this week the spotlight is on Meta who will be once again holding a Meta Quest Gaming Showcase on Thursday, June 1.
The show promises 40 minutes of exciting new Meta Quest 2 announcements, including both a 15 minute pre-show and post-show roundtable. Those looking for more info on Meta Quest 3 may leave disappointed however, as hardware announcements are typically reserved for later in the year at Meta Connect events.
Meta Quest Gaming Showcase start time
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase start time is set for Thursday, June 1 at 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT. The event will last for 40 minutes, however there will also be a pre and post-show.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase preshow will begin 15 minutes earlier at 5:45pm BST / 12:45pm EDT / 9:45am PDT. Meanwhile the post show will last for 15 minutes at the end of the event.
How to watch the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase
Meta will be streaming the event on Facebook (obviously), YouTube, and Twitch; all three will be airing at the same time, so pick whatever platform you prefer. There aren't any specific links to the streams available just yet, but we'll update the page with these once they arrive.
True Meta-heads or anyone with a Meta Quest headset can also watch the showcase in VR via Meta Horizon Worlds, as long as the social VR platform is available in your region. Just be sure to sign up ahead of the event and wait for the notification to join.
Of course, you can always join us here at Mirror Gaming as we watch the event live, featuring all of our reactions and takeaways from the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. We'll embed that here for you when it's ready, so you don't even need to leave the page.
What to expect from the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase
Truth be told there isn't too much out there about what we might see at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, but we have a few ideas. For example, the teaser video for the event implies that something Marvel related will make an appearance, as the parting shot of the video shows off Loki's helmet.
Last years event showed off a bunch of titles; some of these have launched in the time since like Among Us VR, Moss: Book 2 and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution. However, the 2022 Meta Quest Game Showcase's grand finale was Ghostbusters VR, which we later found out will be titled Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord. The game is supposed to launch this year (perhaps an October release would be appropriate timing?) so there's a strong chance there will be some ghost catching during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase.
There's also the GTA: San Andreas VR project that was announced back in 2021, which could always show up again (although Rockstar may have gone back to the drawing board with it after the terrible reception to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition ).
If we go back even further, Ubisoft announced VR versions of Assassins Creed and Splinter Cell that are in the works, but that was almost three years ago now and we've heard little since, so perhaps this stealthy duo will finally reveal themselves here.
