The London Marathon returns this autumn after a record-breaking year in 2021.
Roughly 40,000 people took part in last year’s race, with a further 40,000 running the 26.2 miles elsewhere and joining the event virtually.
More than 350,000 people entered the ballot to take part in this year’s race, meaning places are once again like gold dust, but there is still hope for those who were not lucky enough to get one.

When is the 2022 London Marathon?
This year’s London Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 2, 2022. This will be the final time the race is run in October, before reverting to its traditional spring slot in 2023.
What is the London Marathon 2022 route?
The London Marathon route has become iconic over the years, starting in Greenwich and finishing on The Mall, taking in iconic sights such as the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace along a 26.2 mile course.

How can I get a London Marathon charity place?
A whole host of charities are awarded places by the London Marathon organisers to distribute to fundraisers as they see fit.
Usually, charities will ask applicants to commit to raising a certain amount of money for their chosen cause, usually around £2,000.
