Twelve months on from an epic, history-making Grand National the world’s most famous horse race returns for its 174th renewal this weekend.
Rachael Blackmore crowned an incredible season by becoming the first female jockey to win the great race when partnering Minella Times to success over the Aintree fences back in 2021.
That race took place in front of empty grandstands, with fans not yet cleared to return to sporting events following the pandemic, while the 2020 renewal was cancelled outright in the heart of the first lockdown.
As a result, this will be the first National held in front of spectators since Tiger Roll’s second successive victory brought the house down back in 2019.

Date, start time and venue
The 2022 Grand National meeting runs from Thursday, April 7 to Saturday, April 9, with the Grand National itself taking place at 5:15pm BST today.
Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool will host the race.

Grand National 2022 tickets
Tickets are still available for all three days across various enclosures, with the cheapest starting from £30 for the Thursday of the meeting.
