The qualifying rounds of the FA Cup have been completed and the day many fans of non-league clubs have been dreaming of is nearly here.
The world’s oldest and most historic cup competition is well and truly underway and, with the first round on the horizon there are still plenty of smaller teams in the hat. The first round sees all the clubs from League One and League Two put together, alongside the best from non-league.
Ninth-tier side Anstey Nomads, who play in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division North, may have fallen on Saturday, losing 3-0 to Chesterfield, but there are still lots of great stories to be told in the competition.
Here Mirror Football brings you all you need to know about the FA Cup first round draw.
When is the FA Cup first round draw?
The draw will be made live on BBC Two from 7pm on Monday, October 17. Fans will also be able to watch it online via the official Emirates FA Cup Twitter and Facebook social media pages.
When will the FA Cup first round matches take place?
Teams from League One and League Two will be joined by 32 non-league sides to make 80 clubs. That means 40 matches are on the agenda, with former Premier League teams like Portsmouth, Bolton and Ipswich potentially being drawn against minnows like Needham Market, King’s Lynn Town or Coalville Town.
First round matches will take place between Friday, November 4 and Monday, November 7.
