When is the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cinema release date and what we know about the new marvel film

It’s time to start preparing for Marvel’s next big release Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It might be worth watching the first Doctor Strange to remind you of what’s happened.

Doctor Strange 2 will run for two hours and six minutes. This makes it the shortest MCU release in three years.

Based on the latest trailer we know Benedict Cumberbatch reprises his role as the titular character. Elizabeth Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Baron Karl Mordo/Master Modo and Benedict Wong plays Wong.

Other cast members include Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West and Patrick Stewart as Professor X.

Here’s everything else you need to know about the next big Marvel film.

When is the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cinema release date?

Doctor Strange arrives in cinemas on May 5. The film was expected to release on March 25 but was delayed due to reshoots in late 2021.

Doctor Strange Strange in the Multiverse is rated 12A in the UK.

What we know about the new marvel film

Doctor Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse. However, a threat emerges that may be too big for his team to handle.

Doctor Strange meets a character named Chavez who comes from the Utopian Parallel. In the comics, the Utopian Parallel exists out of space and time and is threatened by black holes. Chavez’s mothers Amalia and Elena sacrifice themselves to save Chavez.

Chavez is the only survivor of her race and uses her abilities to open an interdimensional portal to find a new home. She finds Earth and meets Doctor Strange.

The official trailer suggests Chavez’s backstory will be slightly different. A monster behind her seems to activate her powers and she often has a star-shaped portal open behind her (one of her major abilities) meaning this will play a huge role in her being saved.

One thing Marvel is keeping the same about Chavez is her sexuality. Doctor Strange 2 will acknowledge the character is gay, just as Chavez is in the comics.
