Spotify Wrapped 2024 is out. Here's how to find your playlist

Who run the world? Girls!

And it seems that is very much is the case for the music industry for the past 12 months as Spotify put users out of their misery and launched the Wrapped feature for 2024.

That time of year is officially here – when you have to decide whether to show off the music you have been listening to for the past 12 months, or if your guilty pleasures should remain a secret.

Spotify Wrapped was finally released on Wednesday (December 4) and showed that women have dominated some charts in 2024.

The streaming platform sent subscribers their personalised roundup of their listening habits, but also announced the artists who racked up the biggest numbers.

Swifts could celebrate as Taylor Swift claimed the title of both Global and UK top artist for the second year running, achieving more than 26.6 billion streams thanks to the release of her Grammy-nominated album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Sabrina Carpenter was named as topping the global songs chart with her catchy single Espresso.

In fact, all five of the biggest-streamed albums were by women.

Swift again garnered top spot, followed by Billie Eilish’s third album Hit Me Hard and Soft, then Carpenter in third.

Colombian singer Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito was rated fourth while Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine came in at fifth.

But the rest of the top 10 artists globally saw male singers. After Swift came The Weeknd, followed by Bad Bunny and Drake.

Then it’s back to the females for the fifth spot with Eilish, and Grande taking the number nine spot.

The rest of the chart is all male, with Travis Scott in sixth, Peso Pluma seventh, Kanye West taking the eighth spot, and Feid rounding off the top 10.

Fans were previously advised to make sure their app is up to date in order to get their listening data.

What is Spotify Wrapped?

It is a round up of your most-listened-to songs of 2024 that you can then share on social media with snazzy graphics created by the app.

Each user gets their very own compilation of what they have loved listening to. From their top songs, artists and genres to just how many minutes they have spent listening.

It all pops up on the Spotify app on the date Wrapped is released.

When is Spotify Wrapped released for 2024?

It is finally here, and all the data was shared on Wednesday (December 4).

While it’s generally believed that tracking begins on January 1 each year, the end date is contested. In 2021, a source from Spotify told Newsweek that tracking ended in October, which gave the team enough time to prepare the information and data featured in the campaign. But, two years later, Spotify threw a spanner in the works when they responded to one Twitter user, claiming that tracking for Wrapped continued past October 31.

When have previous Spotify Wrapped come out?

2024 is the the ninth year of the round-up and Spotify stayed true to previous year round-ups.

In 2023 and 2022, it was released on November 30 while, in 2021 and 2020, it was December 1.

In 2019, it came out on December 5.

How can I see my Spotify Wrapped data?

It has been made available today. Users can click on the app as usual and pop ups will show that their Wrapped is ready to view.

You will need to update your phone if you can’t see Wrapped.
