Errol Spence Jr has confirmed he will finally meet welterweight rival Terence Crawford in one of boxing’s most anticipated bouts this summer.
The two have been almost intrinsically linked in recent years as fight fans pushed for the huge unification bout.
As is the case in the sport, however, a myriad of hurdles prevented the meeting of two global stars until now.
It follows a number of big American bouts to have been made this year, with Gervonta Davis beating Ryan Garcia in April before Devin Haney retained his undisputed lightweight crown against Vasyl Lomachenko earlier this month.
Crawford (39-0) is the WBO champion and most recently defeated David Avanesyan by way of knockout in December, while Spence (28-0) holds the IBF, WBA and WBC belts.
Spence knocked out Yordenis Ugas to pick up the WBA crown in April 2022 and pound-for-pound supremacy awaits the winner.
The fight will take place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday July 29, 2023.
"The wait is over, it’s game time," Crawford said in a video on social media. "Errol Spence Jr, Terence Crawford, July 29th, Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Everybody come out, show support and watch my fry this fish."
On Instagram, Spence wrote: “Finally giving the fans what they want.
“This one a throwback fight on paper but it could be a one sided a** whooping, one of the biggest fights of the century."
