When is Nottingham Pride 2022? Parade route, times and performers confirmed

Nottingham Pride is now just weeks away as the event is set to take place on Saturday, July 30th. This year will mark the first return of the full celebrations since Covid restrictions meant it had to go online for 2020.

The event has traditionally always been the last Saturday in July since it began in 1997 although it has moved across the city during that time. This year, the parade and stalls will make a return to Broad street where it is usually held.

The parade which is one of the highlights of the day will once again take place with people allowed to start gathering from 10:00 am for the official start at 11:00 am. The parade will mark the 50th anniversary of Pride celebrations in the UK and will lead with the rainbow flag starting at Lister Gate and ending on Broad Street at 12pm.

The pride march will be fully signposted on the day with where to go but all visitors will need to do is listen to the music which will be provided by Can Samba and Nottingham Samba Collective. This year also marks a welcome return of the stalls on Broad street which will highlight a number of services available to the Nottingham LGBT+ community.

The pride stage will also return to Heathcoate Street where it will be opened by MP Nadia Whittome before hosting a series of LGBT+ performers. This year's performers will include Rob Green, Charity Shop Sue and some of Nottingham's best drag acts. The stage will wrap up at around 7pm.

Although the parade and stalls finish, there are lots of different bars and venues hosting events. Some of Nottingham's LGBT+ bars include The New Forresters on St. Ann's Street, Lord Roberts and Broadway Cinema on Broad street who have been supporting the Pride celebrations.

Gladrags drag collective will be providing a day and evening event. Their day event will host some of Nottingham's best bands and singers including Babytap and Arch femmesis at Rough Trade from 12pm until 6pm. Their Pride after event will be hosted by Marilyn Sane and Nana Arthole and provide all the LGBT+ anthems from DJ Boz and Baby Tap at Popworld on Cheapside. Performers Lill Queen, Lady Bushra, Terri Box and Liv will take to the stage throughout the evening from 8:30pm until 3am.

Nana Arthole said: "Pride is all about visibility and being unapologetic about celebrating your identity, no matter what that means to you. That's why we will be putting on a mixture of events taking place through the day and into the night. Expect a whole lot of LGBT+ anthems and artists on the playlist and a strict safe space policy."

DirtyFilthySexy will be holding their annual alternative afterparty bringing acts like Drag Race series 2 star Joe Black, Frog Boi and Saint Sinister to the stage at Nottingham Contemporary. The event will start at 9pm but be prepared for it to go late as it finishes at 3am.

DJ Greyskull, founder of DirtyFilthySexy said: "We are super happy to be returning to our beloved home of Nottingham Contemporary for this year's alternative Pride Afterparty from 9pm until 3 am to celebrate this year's Pride. We are also celebrating 14 years of Dirty, Filthy, Sexy too.

They added: "As well as hosting kings, queens and in-betweens, we are incredibly excited to have a headline performance from dark cabaret vaudevillian and star of Ru Paul's Drag Race, Joe Black for his only Nottingham appearance this year. See you on the dancefloor!"
