Like with all Disney movies, you're probably being hounded by your younger family members as to exactly when you can watch Mufasa: The Lion King on Disney Plus after its cinema release. Heck, you might be curious yourself about The Lion King prequel's streaming plans.
Luckily, you've come to the right place, because we can tell you exactly when the blockbuster from director Barry Jenkins is available for Disney Plus subscribers. After arriving in theatres just before Christmas 2024, soon you'll be able to see the tale of Simba's father and his rise in the Pride Lands for yourself.
When is Mufasa on Disney Plus?

Mufasa: The Lion King is coming to Disney Plus on March 26, 2025. Disney made the announcement with a new teaser just over two weeks before arrival, to make sure we were all ready for when the film lands on the streaming service.
Mufasa's streaming release follows the 90-day standard for Disney films that peter out a bit at the box office. The Lion King prequel's global takings landed around $712 million, nothing to balk at but with a clear way still to go before reaching one billion.
By contrast, Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine, two billion-dollar box office smashes, came to Disney Plus after 103 and 109 days, respectively. Disney likes to wring every cinema ticket it can from a movie if it's already making good money, so the 90-day window gets stretched if there's precedent.
That didn't apply here, giving subscribers a slightly earlier chance to catch up with Mufasa. If that includes you, now you know when to have the popcorn ready.
