While he is the star that has generated the most headlines this week, Matt Hancock was nowhere to be seen as the new series of I'm A Celebrity started on ITV.
On Tuesday it was reported that the former Health Secretary, who quit the job after being caught cheating on his wife in Downing Street, had been signed up for the much loved programme, with the news massively dividing opinion online, as source said that I'm A Celebrity bosses were delighted at pulling off a "sensational signing."
At the end of a day which saw him dominate online news sites and TV news bulletins, Hancock was seen at Brisbane Airport, after jetting Down Under, as the rumours about him doing I'm A Celeb proved to be true. However, a massive question mark still hangs on just when Hancock will go into the jungle, as he isn't featured in the opening episode.
I'm A Celebrity is no stranger to a late arrival, with soap legends Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson both going in to the castle for last year's show, midway through the first week, with Simon making it all the way to the final.
When is Matt Hancock going in I'm A Celebrity?
ITV are staying tight lipped on just when and how Hancock will be introduced into the show. But, given that he has already been in Australia for nearly a week, a first week appearance is looking likely. He will be unaware of the furore his involvement in I'm A Celebrity has caused as, like the other stars, he had his phone taken off him after landing Down Under.
Hosts Ant and Dec dropped a very big hint he will be going in the jungle at some point. Confirming late arrivals were imminent on I'm A Celeb 2022, Dec said: ""You're going to be so surprised guys. We're going to be rolling out the welcome MATT for them very soon."
Hancock isn't set to be the only late arrival as comedian Seann Walsh, widely tipped to be on this year's line-up, is also set to make his jungle entrance at some point.
