The weigh-ins for Josh Warrington's rematch with Kiko Martinez take place today ahead of the featherweight title bout on Saturday. It will be Warrington's first contest since his fights with Mexican Mauricio Lara, the most recent of which was in September.
Spaniard Martinez became IFB champion champion after defeating Kid Galahad in November in front of Galahad's home fans in Sheffield. Warrington will fight for the same belt that he was forced to vacate last year after his first fight with Lara, where he suffered a surprise defeat, and then drew with the same opponent after two rounds as Lara suffered a cut eye. Talks were never settled between the two for a third fight, with Warrington now having his eyes back on the title.
Warrington has been handed the ideal opportunity to get his career back to the top on track with having the belt around his waist should he defeat Martinez. In the previous meeting between Martinez and Warrington in 2017, the bout went the full distance before the later won via the score cards.
