Netflix has just confirmed the release date of The Heartstopper season 2, and it isn’t far away.
Heartstopper was a surprise hit when it had its premiere on the streaming platform in April 2022. It received immediate acclaim for its honest and authentic LGBTQ+ depiction, which led to a multi-season renewal in May.
The actors of the LGBTQ+ coming-of-age drama teased what viewers may expect in the upcoming second season in an intriguing behind-the-scenes video that was also shared by the streamer.
Joe Locke, who plays Charlie Spring, said about the upcoming season: "Charlie goes on more of a journey this season.”
Yasmin Finney said that her character Elle [Argent] was "more confident — she surrounds herself with people that elevate her," her story is "a little more mature”.
When is Heartstopper season 2 coming out?
The second season of Heartstopper will premiere on Netflix on August 3, 2023.

It was announced in May 2022 that Heartstopper would return for a second and third season on the streaming platform.
What we know about the Heartstopper season 2 cast
The following cast members are due to return for season 2:
Locke as Charlie Spring; Kit Connor as Nick Nelson; Olivia Colman as Sarah Nelson; William Gao as Tao Xu; Finney as Elle Argent; Corinna Brown as Tara Jones; Kizzy Edgell as Darcy Olsson; Sebastian Croft as Ben Hope.
Also on the cast are: Cormac Hyde-Corrin as Harry Greene; Rhea Norwood as Imogen Heaney; Tobie Donovan as Isaac Henderson; Jenny Walser as Tori Spring; Fisayo Akinade as Mr Ajayi; Chetna Pandya as Coach Singh; and Alan Turkington as Mr Lange.
Alongside returning cast members, a plethora of new faces are joining the second season, with Bel Priestley, Ash Self and Thibault De Montalembert among them.
Naomi, played by Priestley and Felix played by Self are “new friends” of Elle, while Stephane played by Montalembert is Nick’s father.
Other new cast members include Sahar Zahid, a Higgs student, Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother David Nelson and Bradley Riches as James McEwan, a Truham student.
What is Heartstopper season 2 going to be about?
"Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends," says Netflix's teaser for the much-awaited second season.
"With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship."
