When is Glastonbury 2024 and how to get tickets for next year's festival

Glastonbury is back for its 51st edition this weekend. Hundreds of thousands of music fans are soaking up the action at Worthy Farm as the first full day of music gets underway.

Festival-goers will get to see epic Pyramid Stage headlines sets from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Guns N Roses and Sir Elton John this year, while other big names set to perform include Queens of the Stone Age, Lizzo, Lana Del Rey, Blondie and Lewis Capaldi.

While the BBC's live coverage of the festival means you don't have to miss out while you're sat at home, you might still be wondering how you can be part of it.

Luckily, the next Glastonbury is just one year away. But don't be mistaken, getting hold of tickets is no easy feat.

The festival is famous for selling out every year, with tickets getting snapped up in a matter of minutes. In a bid to bring down the touts, the festival also requires anyone who wants to purchase a ticket to pre-register first.

If you're sat at home with FOMO now is a great time to read up on everything you need to know about next year's event - including when it is, when tickets are available and how much it will set you back.

When is Glastonbury 2024?

Glastonbury Festival usually takes place for four years in a row before the organisers declare a year off - or fallow year - to help the land recover. After the pandemic stopped the festival from going ahead for two years running, it's likely we aren't due another fallow year until further down the line.

Organisers are yet to confirm the exact dates for the 2024 festival but they have previously hinted that they already have some big acts booked.

Tradition dictates that the festival takes place on the last full weekend of June. So with that knowledge, we can predict that the 2024 festival will run from Thursday, June 27, to Sunday, June 30.

It's likely that festival organisers will confirm next year's dates soon after this year's festival comes to an end.

How do you get tickets for Glastonbury?

Tickets for the 2024 festival are not yet on sale. The Glastonbury ticket sale takes place in October and is followed by a resale of returned tickets in April. That's it - you only get two chances.

If you want a ticket for Glastonbury you have to register first and your registration has to include a photo of yourself. Security checks are carried out to ensure that only the person in the photograph is allowed into the festival.

The only place to buy tickets is through the festival's offical ticket partner SeeTickets.

It's notoriously difficult to get tickets as the demand is so high. You stand the best chance if you get as many people to try for you and your group as possible - but really it just comes down to luck.

How much are tickets?

Ticket prices have been rising steadily in recent years. Tickets for the 2023 event were up £55 from the year before - with festival goers paying a total of £340 to get in.

So it's likely that the 2024 event will cost more than that, but organisers have not confirmed how much they will be.

If you get through in the main sale you only have to put down a £50 deposit. The ticket balance will then be due in April and if you don't pay it, your ticket goes back in the pot for the resale.
