It has been four years since Gareth Southgate led England to the World Cup semi-final in Russia and when you think about it, a lot has happened in that time.
The Three Lions reached an international final for the first time since 1966 at Euro 2020, a worldwide pandemic came, wreaked havoc and has almost gone, whilst a change in presidency and three changes of order in at Downing Street have flown by. But with the World Cup nigh, it is also interesting to see the change that has occurred from the last squad of 23.
Jack Butland, Danny Rose, Fabian Delph, Phil Jones, Dele Alli and Ashley Young all made the venture to Russia - none of those names now, bar a shock call up for Alli against the odds - are even in consideration to make the trip to Qatar. But with a new, young battalion awash with talent coming through the ranks, many are eagerly anticipating who Gareth Southgate will choose as his men for the 26-man squad after many players enjoyed superb seasons for their clubs.

When will the final squad be announced?
All 32 nations have until Sunday, November 13 to submit their final squad lists to FIFA ahead of the World Cup getting underway a week later.
It is understood that Southgate decided on a preliminary squad on Friday, October 21 but the 55-player list was not made public. The England manager is expected to announce his final 23-man squad on Thursday, November 10.
Will we see the players in action before the World Cup?
England are not due to feature in any friendlies ahead of the World Cup, meaning they will be thrust into the deep end against Iran on November 21.
