When is Christmas Jumper Day 2023? How to get involved with the Save the Children event

With just weeks until Christmas Day, the festivities are in full swing. Festive decorations, mulled wine and Christmas markets will help distract us from the cold weather and longer nights.

But, none of these is complete without an outlandish, vibrant jumper in support of Christmas Jumper Day, taking place tomorrow (Thursday, December 7).

The annual event sees Save the Children raise money for kids in the UK and across the globe as millions of people don festive outfits and donate to charity.

If you are going through financially tough times and can’t donate, you are still welcome to be a part of the day.

When is Christmas Jumper Day?

This year, the special occasion is set to take place tomorrow, December 7, 2023. But, Save the Children says, if Thursday doesn’t work for you, then you can take part any day you want!

Christmas Jumper Day has been taking place since 2012, when millions of people have put on their jazziest jumpers, donated £2 to Save the Children, and helped make the world better for children in the UK and around the world.

How to take part in Christmas Jumper Day

You don’t have to buy a new jumper either. In fact, the organisation suggests decorating an old jumper or swapping jumpers with your friend instead of purchasing a new one.

In previous years, Save the Children would collaborate with retailers to create new Christmas jumpers for sale. However, they have decided against it this year.

How to donate to Save the Children

The UK Government has promised to match all donations. So, every time you donate £2 to Save the Children, so will the Government.

The charity is hoping to spend the money raised on helping mothers and babies in Kenya.

If that sounds like your cup of tea, you can get involved by filling out the charity’s Christmas Jumper Day sign-up page.

You can also help out by setting up a JustGiving fundraising page online and raising money. With the charity’s focus on sustainability, they won’t be sending out any paper fundraising packs this year.
