The Chaitra Navratri will begin on April 2; the following nine days, till April 11, holds immense religious significance in Hinduism. Chaitra navratri falls in the month of Chaitra according to the Hindu calendar which corresponds to March-April as per the Gregorian calendar.

Navratri is a Hindu festival, spanning over 9 days in which nine goddesses are worshipped-Shailaputri or Pratipada, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, Siddhidhatri. There are four seasonal navratris observed in India, out of which two: Chaitra and Sharad navratris are celebrated the most. The other two navratris are observed in the months of Magha and Asadha. The magha navratri falls in the month of Magha, which is January-February as per the Gregorian calendar. The fifth day of this navratri is observed as vasant panchami or Saraswati Puja. The asadha navratri also called gupta navratri falls in June-July month.

During the Navratri, people abstain from alcohol and non-veg food items and eat sattvik food. People also abstain from the consumption of onion and garlic during this period.

Temples and religious places are decorated for devotees to come and offer their prayers to the goddesses. Each day of the navratri holds a different significance.

Many people also perform rituals and pujas as per Hindu astrology.

The Chaitra Navratri will be observed from April 2, 2022 to April 11, 2022. The Ashtami of the Chaitra Navratri, which is considered to be the most important day of ritual, falls on the 8th day of the navratri which is on April 9.

The Pratipada tithi marks the beginning of Chaitra Navratri every year.

For Chaitra Navratri 2022, the pratipada tithi begins at 11.53 am on April 1. This will be effective till 11.58 am on April 2.

The Kalash sthapana timing, which is the most auspicious time of every navratri, will be from 6.22 am on April 2 to 8.31 am on April 2. Those who do navratri puja and keep fast can do the Kalash sthapana or the ghatasthapana during this duration which will be ideally for 2 hours and 9 minutes.
