"Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life changing cash prize."

Big Brother first premiered in the UK on 18 July, 2000 on Channel 4, and featured a 24-hour live feed that allowed fans to tune into the house at any given time. It ran on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 before moving to Channel 5 from 2011 to 2018.

Big Brother is making a comeback on ITV (ITV)

While an official date hasn't been confirmed, ITV has announced the reality television series will make its return in 2023. It will launch on channels ITV2 and ITVX.

Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ITVBe and CITV said the new series will have a "brand new look" and some "additional twists" but will contain "all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round".

Who will present Big Brother UK?

Rylan Clark has quelled rumours that he will host the revival of Big Brother (Channel 5)

While the original series was famously hosted by Davina McCall and later Emma Willis when it switched to Channel 5, it's not yet known who will be taking over hosting duties.

Rylan Clark - who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and went on to present spin-off show Bit on the Side until 2018 - recently addressed rumours he'd been asked to host the show.

He wrote on Twitter: "Should clarify. I've not been asked to host the show. As a fan, like always, I'm made up it's coming back. I know how hard you/we all fought to keep that name alive and I'm so glad it paid off in the end. The OG reality is back. It's the news we wanted. Welcome back bro."

Rylan added: "Praying for *Normal housemates from all walks *Live evictions *No outside contact *Public vote *Adopt a small part of gameplay from overseas territories *Some form of Live feed *Big Brother to always be in charge."

He continued: "So we will see… v early days Re team / host etc. Regardless we wanted it back and it came back."
