It will be televised live on BBC One, with proceedings starting at 7pm. Subscribers can also watch on BBC iPlayer, while there will also be coverage on the BBC Sport website and app.
Who Are The Sports Personality Of The Year Contenders?
The nominees for the award have been confirmed, with one athlete leading the way as the standout favourite.
Keely Hodgkinson is expected to win after clinching a gold medal in the women’s 800m at the Paris Olympics.
Olympic triathlon gold medalist Alex Yee and Paralympic cycling champion Dame Sarah Storey also make the list after their exploits in Paris.
Luke Littler is perhaps the strongest contender to lift the prize after Hodgkinson. The 17-year-old – also on the Young Sports Personality of The Year shortlist – became the youngest-ever player to reach the PDC World Darts Championship final.
Jude Bellingham is on the shortlist after winning LaLiga and the Champions League in his first season with Real Madrid. He has missed out on one trophy after finishing third in the Ballon d’Or running.
Completing the six-person shortlist is Joe Root after an excellent year in which he surpassed Sir Alastair Cook as England’s all-time leading Test run-scorer in October.
A shortlist of six contenders has been announced for the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
