When is Barry season four released on TV in the UK?

HBO’s acclaimed dark comedy Barry returns to screens for one final outing. The series stars Bill Hader as marine-turned-hitman-turned-actor Barry Berkman and Happy Days legend Henry Winkler as his acting coach Gene Cousineau.

After traveling to Los Angeles, Barry follows a ‘mark’ to an acting class, where he finds community and a new sense of purpose, though ultimately struggles to escape his violent past. Following the dramatic conclusion of season three, Barry is now in prison after being set up by Gene and attempts to earn forgiveness.

Co-created by Hader and Alec Berg, Barry has received critical acclaim throughout its run, receiving a whopping 44 Emmy nominations. Hader was named Outstanding Lead Actor twice for his performance while Henry Winkler picked up the Outstanding Supporting Actor award for his performance in season one.

Star, executive producer and writer Hader spoke to Variety about his decision to end the show after its fourth season, saying: “It was very much in the writing and the storytelling. I mean, a lot of people after last season were like, “Why are you doing another season? It should have just ended.”

“But to me, there are still so many questions with the other characters, and with Barry – and there’s so many things unsaid. What happens in Season four is structurally radical in some ways, but it made sense for what I think the characters needed to go through, and what I think the whole show is always kind of headed towards.

“You realise, well, we could pad a lot of stuff, and just make story. But if we’re going forward, it ends in season four.”
