When is Aldi's full Christmas advert 2021 on TV and where is Kevin the Carrot?

Aldi's teaser for its Christmas advert 2021 dropped this weekend but fans of the supermarket quickly noticed something was amiss.

The new 20 second clip features a brand new character, a banana called Ebanana Scrooge, but Kevin the Carrot is nowhere to be seen.

For those that are yet to see the teaser, it shows a child Ebanana patiently waiting for Santa, snuggled up next to a mince pie in front of a roaring log fire on Christmas Eve.

A mystery hand then appears and takes the mince pie, leaving the banana behind - at which the upset Ebanana cries, "Santa, wait…why didn't he take me?"

Just before the teaser clip fades, Ebanana jumps up and angrily declares, "I hate Christmas…" - leaving viewers wondering what happens next in this festive tale.

But when will the full Aldi Christmas advert 2021 air on television and where is Kevin the Carrot? Here's everything you need to know.

When is Aldi's full Christmas advert 2021 on TV?

The teaser dropped on November 6, with the supermarket confirming the full advert will be revealed across national television and online on later this week.

Fans of the store can expect to see the advert on November, Thursday 11.

If you can't wait until then, here's a full list of the Christmas adverts 2021 already out.

Where is Kevin the Carrot?

Kevin The Carrot is Aldi's mascot (Aldi)

Kevin is the the loveable character who has taken centre stage in Aldi's last five Christmas campaigns, so his lack of screen time during the new teaser took many by surprise.

Aldi is yet to confirm whether Kevin will feature in the full advert or whether he's been axed and replaced with animated banana character Ebanana Scrooge.

The supermarket did give a clue to why Kevin is absent on Twitter, claiming that they hadn't seen him since Christmas 2020. The budget retailer chain joked that it could be because he's in the same situation as M&S' Colin the Caterpillar Cake.

Aldi had their own Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake when M&S launched legal action against the copying of their original design, The Mirror reports.

The store tweeted: "Sorry everyone. Due to ongoing proceedings, #KevinTheCarrot might have to miss Christmas this year. #Justice4Kevin."

They also posted a photo of Kevin next to a carrot from another shop, claiming that there was an "uncanny resemblance".
