Nottingham has experienced some heavy rainfall which may be set to continue for the next few days. While we saw high temperatures above 25C in Nottingham last week - with a particularly hot day on Friday, July 8, this week looks to be a different story. Mixed in with some heavy rain and even thundery showers will be joined by high temperatures just above 20C, which will come as no surprise in July.
According to the Express, some areas across the country will experience a heatwave on Sunday [July 16] with yellow weather warnings in place and stormy conditions expected elsewhere in the UK. However, local forecasts do not predict Nottingham to be basking in sunshine or experience very high temperatures.
Simon Partridge, senior operational meteorologist at the Met Office said: "We are currently expecting temperatures to be near average for the time of year during the last weekend of July.
"Forecast always change and evolve over time and the dates stated are about two weeks away, so it is possible things will change in that time."
June was the hottest month on record, the Met Office recorded as the average temperatures were well above average levels and hotter than the heatwave of 1976. However, a long range weather forecast for Nottingham by weather25 predicts it won't be until early August that Nottingham sees temperatures above 25C return to the city.
On Tuesday, July 11, heavy rain and even thunderstorms are forecast for Nottingham by BBC Weather with a thundery shower expected between 5pm and 7pm. That rain should subside by Wednesday, July 12, however, with sunny intervals and some cloud cover - temperatures could even reach 21C with lows of 13C.
It will remain dry on Thursday, too, with mostly overcast conditions and highs of 20C. Rounding out the working week, there will be some light showers on Friday afternoon, with temperatures between 15C and 20C.
Heading over to the weekend, Saturday and Sunday should both see some showers too. Heavy showers are forecast for Nottingham from 1pm onwards on July 15, with some sunshine poking out between the clouds. It will be a similar story heading into Sunday with light showers expected throughout the day.
