Forecasters have predicted when the first snowfall could hit parts of the UK, with "colder conditions" expected for Nottingham later this month. An arctic weather front is on course to sweep in, forcing temperatures to tumble down.
Speaking to the Express, Jim Dale, British Weather Service's senior meteorologist, said a cold snap lies ahead and believes snow will lay and could stick around for as long as two days later this month. "It’s on one of the models covering Wales and northern Scotland. There will be a frosty spell - with a front moving in," he said.
"It probably will not be very severe but we will have to wait and see. If it arrives as shown then a day or two of lying is possible, but certainly, the cold is going nowhere fast."

Forecasts suggest temperatures could start to take a tumble from the week commencing October 25. The lowest figures are likely to be in the north, with lows around 5C possible.
Mr Dale added: "It’s a gradual thing - the cold arrives from the north on the 25th and onwards from there. But, caution is required though. What you see now will probably be different by the time we get there. It will be caused by a northerly plunge from the Arctic as low pressure passes northern Scotland from west to east."
Temperatures are forecast to hover in the low teens in the south-east. For the areas most likely to be affected by snow, it has been predicted that temperatures will struggle to linger above freezing, with highs of 2C to 3C, on October 28.
The Met Office long range weather forecast for October 27 to November 10 says: "This period is likely to see a continuation of the unsettled weather, bringing spells of rain or showers and strong winds across the UK at times, with temperatures near normal for the time of year.
"However, as we move into November, there is an increasing chance of more settled weather across the UK, which would bring colder conditions with mist, fog, and overnight frost."
For Nottinghamshire, the Met Office predicts colder conditions towards the latter part of October, with a risk of fog and frost.
