When Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley got mobbed visiting slot casinos in Hull

Emmerdale legend Cain Dingle has all manner of storylines down the years but many might not remember the random time actor Jeff Hordley visited arcades in Hull as part of a PR stunt.

Back in 2017, fans flogged to three Quicksilver branches of the arcade casinos in the city to get a chance to meet the Cain Dingle star and pose for selfies with the Emmerdale fave as the star did a mini tour of the city.

As our colleagues from Hull Live reported at the time, as well as meeting fans and taking selfies, actor Jeff Hordley was launching a new VIP gaming experience at the stores.

Emmerdale fan Doreen Harper said: “It was great to meet Jeff - Cain Dingle is one of my favourite characters in the show. He was really down to earth and I’ve got some great pictures that I can’t wait to show off.”

Schoolboy Zac waited for an hour to meet the Emmerdale hero outside the Newland Avenue Quicksilver store.

His mum, Shelley Rayworth, said: “My little boy Zac who’s five tomorrow, he waited an hour for Jeff to come out of the Newland shop because he’s not old enough to go inside.”

While the experience was certainly a little random Jeff, 51, enjoyed meeting his fans.

He said: “It’s been lovely to meet our lucky winners as we’ve worked our way around Hull.”

Elsewhere, Jeff has recently spoken about plans for Emmerdale's 50th anniversary with some explosive scenes set to air later this year.

While much of what is planned is being kept top secret the actor did offer a little tease of what to expect.

“I’m looking forward to some good stories for the whole Emmerdale company for our 50th anniversary,” Jeff said.

“The live 40th anniversary episode was a great challenge for us and the feeling we got from making that hour-long broadcast work was great."

We'll bring you more details on Emmerdale's 50th anniversary when we get them.
