It looks set to be another busy transfer window for Newcastle United. The Magpies have already started conducting their summer business before the window has officially opened.
They certainly aren’t the only club to have got proceedings underway with several Premier League sides having already agreed deals for new recruits. Eddie Howe and his recruitment team are not quite at that stage yet but they will be hoping to add to the squad at St James’ Park in the coming days and weeks.
Hugo Ekitike looks as though he will be the first to come through the door on Tyneside as a move for him edges closer while other targets will be on the radar behind the scenes. As mentioned, the transfer window has not quite opened yet but its opening isn’t far away, here are all the details you need.

When does the summer transfer window open and close?
The summer transfer window officially opens for Premier League clubs on Friday, June 10 despite most of them already engaging in transfer business. It opens slightly earlier than usual because of the early start to next season, caused by the mid-season Qatar World Cup in November and December.
The transfer window closes at 11pm on September 1, ensuring that both the opening and closing dates align with those of the other major European leagues.
What transfers have been completed in the Premier League so far?
As mentioned, there has been plenty of business already conducted prior to the opening of the transfer window. The biggest signing so far involves Erling Haaland and his move to Manchester City while Aston Villa have been the busiest of the Premier League sides.
Steven Gerrard has already added Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara and Robin Olsen to his squad whilst also making Phillipe Coutinho’s move a permanent one. Leeds have also been active as they have already announced the arrival of Brenden Aaronson and prepare to do the same for Rasmus Kristensen with whom they have agreed a deal.
Liverpool have announced the signing of Fabio Carvalho, who was previously linked with a move to Leeds, from Fulham and Tottenham have brought Ivan Perisic to North London on a free transfer. Arsenal have announced the arrival of American goalkeeper Matt Turner and Wolves have made Hwang Hee-Chan’s loan from RB Leipzig permanent.
As for outgoings from the Premier League, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger has agreed a free transfer to Champions League winners Real Madrid while Jayson Molumby and Jack Young have left Brighton and Newcastle respectively.
What transfer business is expected from Newcastle United?
In short, plenty of transfer business is expected at United this summer. Howe has strengthened his defence by signing left-back Matt Targett permanently. He would also like a centre-back with Sven Botman the one most heavily linked.
Ekitike looks set to satisfy the need for further centre forward reinforcements as he will challenge both Callum Wilson and Chris Wood for a starting berth. Elsewhere, the Magpies boss seems to keen to bring further midfield cover and another winger to the club due to the lack of strength in depth in both areas.
Some departures are also expected as some United players have fallen completely out of Howe’s first-team plans while youngsters such as Elliot Anderson are likely to move on loan in order to gain valuable game time.
