When does the new series of ITV's The Larkins start?

ITV's comedy-drama The Larkins is set to make a return to our screens this weekend with Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan both reprising their roles as the iconic characters Pop and Ma Larkin. The first series launched in October 2021 followed by a Christmas special and now the Larkin family are back with a second instalment.

The broadcaster confirmed earlier this year that the latest television adaptation of H.E Bates' series of novels, written by screenwriter Simon Nye (The Durrells, Men Behaving Badly), would be making a comeback in the Autumn. Reprising their roles as the Larkin children will be Lydia Page as Primrose; Liam Middleton as Montgomery; Lola Shepelev as Victoria; Summer Miller as Zinnia and Sienna Miller as Petunia.

Tok Stephen will be returning as Cedric ‘Charley’ Charlton but there will be a new actress playing Mariette Charlton this series. Actress Joelle Rae will take over from Bridgeton star Sabrina Bartlett - who played the character in the first series and Christmas special last year. It's an iconic role that was previously portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the 90s TV adaptation, The Darling Buds of May.

Filming for the second series of The Larkins took place this summer in the Kent countryside. Here are all the details you need on when the new series will start so you don't miss an episode:

When is the new series of The Larkins starting on ITV?

The second series of the comedy-drama is starting on Sunday, October 16 from 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub. There are six episodes in total to the new series, each an hour-long, and the first is titled Bad Neighbours.

In this second series, viewers will join the family in the summer of 1959 with the Larkin children excited for the school holidays. Primrose is preparing to leave school, with plans of becoming a journalist - and she may have some help from Ma to land her first job - and there's also a new vicar in the village, played by Maxim Ays, who has caught Primrose's eye. Meanwhile Mariette will be returning from travelling Europe on her honeymoon with Charley.

Newcomers the Jerebohm family are also arriving in the village with their two children - the couple will be played by Morgana Robinson and Julian Rhind-Tutt. But there may be trouble in store for The Larkins as Pop tries to sell the Jerebohms the crumbling mansion Bluff Court.

It is expected that the series will run every Sunday from 8pm for the next six weeks. You can watch the first series of The Larkins over on the ITV Hub.
